Children’s Drawing and Painting Classes

Instructor: Monica Schraiber Otero

Monica Schraiber Otero has taught Art at elementary and high school levels since 1991. She received her BA in Art from Rutgers University, Newark College of Arts and Sciences with a concentration in oil painting. She teaches Drawing and Painting classes at WAC, is the Director of the Summer Art Camp, and curates the Children’s Juried Art Exhibition each year. She is a professional artist who shows her work in many venues throughout NJ. She has been a member of AENJ (Art Educators of NJ) and the Contemporary Art Group. Under the direction and instruction of Mrs. Monica Schraiber Otero, this Art Camp is a three-week program during the month of July for ages 5-11. Focusing on Creativity, Imagination and Ingenuity, Art Camp offers children a unique opportunity to acquire or improve artistic skills, learn new techniques, explore different materials and get inspired by famous artists. All while having fun!

You can choose from one or both of these classes.


Drawing Enrichment Workshop (Ages 6-11)

Young artists working develop their natural ability, improve their skills and explore new techniques as they learn the fundamentals of Drawing.

Students discover a variety of wet and dry media such as pencil, charcoal, oil and chalk pastels as well as watercolors while they  sketch, shade, use perspective and the color wheel.  Projects created from life and the imagination include portraits, landscapes, still lifes, optical illusions and more!

Participants are inspired by the work of Paul Cezanne, Bridget Riley and Pablo Picasso.

Fees: $190 Tuition plus $20 to cover art supplies.

Payment: Payment can be made by check or online. A $8 service fee will be charged for online payment.

Supply Kit: The supply kit will include all materials necessary for participants to create the projects.

 Painting Enrichment Workshop (Ages 6-11)

 

Students create realistic pieces or use their imagination as they explore the traditional technique of painting using non-toxic acrylics on a stretched canvas.

Young artists produce colorful landscapes, abstractions and still lifes as they discover the basics of composition.  Following step by step instructions, participants learn the proper use of paint and how to mix their own colors.

Placing the canvas on a table easel is recommended for the full experience!

Fees: $190 Tuition plus $25 to cover art supplies.

Payment: Payment can be made by check or online. A $8 service fee will be charged for online payment.

Supply Kit: The supply kit will include all materials necessary for participants to create the projects.
