Ignorance is Bliss Call for Artists Prospectus

Prepare to immerse yourself in a thought-provoking exploration at the Watchung Arts Center’s exhibition, Ignorance is Bliss, curated by Nick Lo Conte. This is an invitation for artists to secure a space to showcase one or two of your original works in a dynamic setting that challenges the fabric of perception.

In Ignorance is Bliss, artists are invited to engage with the complex tension between the surface-level interpretation of an artwork and the deeper truths it seeks to reveal. This exhibition is a call to examine the paradoxes that arise when what we see and what we understand diverge. It pushes boundaries, inviting works that ask the viewer to reconsider their assumptions, encouraging a deeper dialogue about the nuances often overlooked in our understanding of the world around us.   • Submission Deadline: March 27st, 2025, 11:59pm
  • Notification of Acceptance: Saturday March 29th
  • Drop off dates: March 30th April 1st from 11am to 1pm and by appointment. Must be confirmed by the Watchung Arts Center either in writing or on the phone.
  • Opening and Closing Dates: April 5th to April 26th
  • Reception: Saturday, April 5th, 2025, 2 to 4pm

Artwork Restrictions:

  • Hanging Method: All work must be made to hang on the wall from the Walker Rod Hanging System (https://walkerdisplay.com/ ) or lightweight work will be hung by special pushpins.
  • Size: No work over 60” in any dimension will be accepted (including works made of 2 or more panels. They must total 60” or less)

Payments:

  • Hanging Fee: This exhibition will have a mandatory $30 hanging fee.
  • Payment: Payment via Paypal. Direct payment link provided with acceptance email.
